Ramona Lewis is a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor who graduated from MATC in 1991. She has worked for WCS in a treatment program for 3 1/2 years. Has then worked for the American Indian Councel, worked in Kettle Moraine and West Bend doing jail groups 2 days per week. She then went on and began her own business in 1996 in Brown Deer and became a part of the Horizon Healthcare team in 2002. Since 2002 she has been an AODA Counselor working 25-30 hours a week with the company. She primarily works with adults doing individual sessions and groups sessions. She specializes in relapse prevention, anger management, stress management and teaching behavioral changes surrounding alcohol and drugs. Her counseling techniques are reality and person centered.
Ramona is married and has one son. She enjoys reading, gardening and cooking.
Vera received her Bachelors of Science degree in Social Welfare in 1981, and her Master of Social Work degree in 1987; both obtained from UW-Milwaukee. She also obtained a Certificate in Journalism from Marquette University in 1990.
Currently, Vera is a practicing psychotherapist and Substance Abuse Counselor at Horizon Healthcare. She prefers to use the eclectic approach in her treatments with her patients. She is comfortable with a wide range of people including adults, children, and adults facing addiction. Vera has extensive experience with gambling and substance addiction, mental illnesses and disorders, marital/family counseling, grief counseling and general mental health.
Vera is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW).
Vera is a cheerful, person with a smiling attitude and truly enjoys doing positive things, and being surrounded in the positive nature of life.
Sonja enjoys working with adults who face addiction. She facilitates four group sessions per week, as well as individual sessions and AODA assessments. Her focus is on relapse prevention and motivational therapy techniques.
Between work and school obligations, Sonja enjoys spending time with her two children, playing recreational volleyball, and relaxing with friends and family whenever possible.
